Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Luis Suarez texted him a good-luck message ahead of Sunday's win over Southampton.
Goals in either half from Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge respectively helped the Reds to a 2-1 opening-day victory over the Saints at Anfield.
Suarez sealed a £75m move away from Liverpool to Barcelona last month but, according to Rodgers, Merseyside will always be in the Uruguayan's heart.
"Luis Suarez sent us a lovely text, wishing us all the best and telling us to start strong - it's a lovely gesture," he told Sky Sports News.
"He sent the text to me personally. What did it say? Don't be so nosey! I texted him back. It's a great love-in I've got with him!
"He's a great boy, but he's gone. It was a lovely touch. Liverpool will always be in his heart."
The 27-year-old scooped double Player of the Year awards after netting 31 times in 33 Premier League appearances last season.
