Fabio Capello has accused Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of showing "a lack of respect" to their peers for snubbing FIFA's 'The Best' awards.
Ronaldo was one of three nominees for the top accolade in London, along with former Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.
Both the Juventus forward and Barcelona counterpart Messi, who was a surprise absentee from the shortlist, decided against attending the ceremony on Monday night.
Capello has criticised the duo for staying away, telling TVE: "It is a lack of respect, for the players, for FIFA and for the world of football.
"It is possible that they won too much and do not like to lose. In life you have to be good when you win and when you lose."
Modric saw off competition from Ronaldo and Salah to be named FIFA's best male player in the world.
