Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam could be charged by the FA over his tackle on Gareth Bale during the Reds' 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Adam fouled the Welshman after 18 minutes of the friendly in Baltimore with what Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has described as a "very nasty challenge".
Bale was subsequently substituted at half time and is now a fitness doubt for the start of the Premier League season.
Adam caused Bale ankle ligament damage with an apparent stamp during a match in May 2011.
The FA did not take any action against the Scot on that occasion but Villas-Boas wants them to look at the latest challenge, according to The Sun.
Adam was sent off at White Hart Lane last season for collecting two yellow cards - one for a foul on Bale - during a heavy 4-0 defeat.
