Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira has spoken of the trust that Brendan Rodgers showed in him as he came on as a substitute in the Reds' 3-2 win against Fulham on Wednesday.
The Portuguese playmaker came off the bench for Raheem Sterling in his first senior appearance, and the youngster has revealed what the Northern Irish boss said to him before sending him on.
Speaking to Portuguese newspaper Record, he said: "He called me over and told me exactly what he wanted me to do.
"Then he said be confident and to shoot at goal too because he believed I was going to score. I haven't had time to stop and think, Wednesday was full of emotions and it was a very busy day."
The win moved the Reds to within four points of Premier League leaders Chelsea.
