Virgil van Dijk has admitted that he will take tips from Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson after being appointed as the Netherlands' new captain.
The world's costliest defender will skipper his national side for the first time in Friday evening's friendly encounter with England in Amsterdam.
Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in a £75m deal a little over two months ago, will be in direct competition with clubmate Henderson at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Asked if he has picked up any pointers from Henderson along the way, the Dutchman told reporters: "Jordan does it very well at Liverpool and I look at the things he does. Hopefully, it can make me better and can help me.
"To be named captain is very special to me, my first game as captain of my country will be special and it will be even more special being against England."
Gareth Southgate has announced that Henderson will also wear the captain's armband for England on Friday.
