Andre Villas-Boas: 'A draw would have been fairer'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas concedes that a draw may have been a fairer reflection of his side's 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that a draw would have been a fairer result following his side's 2-1 win over Liverpool.

The Spurs boss, who watch his side withstand late pressure from the Reds, agreed with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers's assessment that the points should have been shared.

"Brendan feels a fairer result was a draw and I have to agree. We did extremely well to hold on to the lead," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

Rodgers was critical of referee Phil Dowd after the game, insisting that his team should have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Steven Gerrard was brought down by Mousa Dembele.

"I don't know what Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have to do get a penalty. It was bordering on assault on Gerrard," he said.

Goals from Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale sealed the points for Spurs, with the latter putting through his own net to give Liverpool a consolation.
