Liverpool recorded a 1-0 victory over Olympiacos in their first International Challenge Cup match at Soldier Field this evening.
It took the Reds just five minutes to take the lead, as Daniel Sturridge's scuffed effort fell kindly for Raheem Sterling to slot home from close range.
The Greek side responded well to the early setback and Gevorg Ghazaryan curled a strike wide, before Dimitris Diamantakos saw his shot blocked.
Lazar Markovic came close to scoring a second for Liverpool just before the break, but Balazs Megyeri saved his attempt.
After the break Olympiacos were inches away from levelling the scores through Ghazaryan, who saw his curling effort crash against the bar.
Avraam Papadopoulos was the next to threaten for the Greeks, but the defender's long-range drive went just over the bar.
Rickie Lambert then had an effort saved by Megyeri, before Philippe Coutinho fired a strike into the side-netting.
In stoppage time Olympiacos almost equalised, but Andreas Samaris saw his strike kept out by Brad Jones, as Sterling's early goal proved enough for Liverpool to claim the win.
