How Liverpool could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Sunday's Merseyside derby against Everton, with Roberto Firmino pushing for a return following his ankle injury.

Liverpool mark the home straight of the Premier League title race with the 284th Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.

The Reds make the short trip to Goodison Park having won the reverse fixture in dramatic fashion with a last-gasp 1-0 triumph at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp will be well aware that the Toffees would love nothing more than to derail their charge for the title, though, with Liverpool sitting one point clear of champions Manchester City following Wednesday's 5-0 win over Watford.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the visitors could line up for the derby.

Out: Joe Gomez (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee)
Doubtful: Dejan Lovren (hamstring), Roberto Firmino (ankle)

Liverpool produced their biggest win of the season with Sadio Mane playing through the middle and Divock Origi on the left on Wednesday, but Roberto Firmino's expected return from a minor ankle injury sustained against Manchester United could see them revert to a more familiar set-up.

Origi - the hero in the reverse fixture - is likely to make way for the Brazilian despite his goal at Anfield, forcing Mane back out wide left while Mohamed Salah continues on the right in search of his 50th league goal for Liverpool.

Captain Jordan Henderson is pushing for a recall after being restricted to a substitute appearance in midweek, but Klopp will be wary of making too many changes to his side following such an emphatic performance against Watford.

Dejan Lovren is now back in training and could be in contention to feature on Sunday, although it is unlikely that Klopp will throw him straight back into the starting XI for a game of such intensity.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is now back to full fitness, though, and is expected to start again following his hat-trick of assists against the Hornets in Wednesday night.
