Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has insisted that the club need to be challenging for the Premier League title every season.
The Reds are historically one of the most successful clubs in England, but they have not been crowned top-flight champions since 1990.
Jurgen Klopp's side look certain to end that 30-year drought this season as they currently boast a 25-point lead at the top of the table, and Shaqiri has talked up the importance of ensuring that they now carry their winning mentality over to future campaigns.
"Slowly, slowly of course everybody wants to achieve as much as possible. The Premier League title is especially very important for this club and for a lot of players here because not a lot of players won titles. It's very important for them too," the Swiss midfielder told Liverpool's official website.
"For a few years it was always coming, coming and playing well, but no title. This big club needs to fight every year for the title.
"It seems like the winning mentality is here now and trying to stay at the top is very important, and difficult. That's the most important challenge for this club, I think."
Liverpool, who have dropped just five points in the Premier League all season, need only six more points to clinch the title when play resumes after the coronavirus lockdown.
