Liverpool legend John Aldridge has called for the club to strengthen the squad this transfer window.
The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League, and the former striker admitted that he wants to see the club "take advantage" of their good position by adding some quality to the side this month.
Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column: "I was disappointed to read the manager (Brendan Rodgers) saying that strengthening the team may have to wait until the summer if Liverpool can't get the right deals in January.
"I know it's difficult to find value at this time of year and to be fair there has been very little business done so far across the Premier League. But as fans we're not kidding ourselves. We all know we need to take advantage of this window to try to ensure we have what's required to remain in the Champions League spots.
"One quality new player could make all the difference. You only have to look at the impact Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho made last January."
Rodgers's side beat Stoke City 5-3 on Sunday.
