Liverpool have reportedly been offered the chance to re-sign Philippe Coutinho on a free transfer from Barcelona this summer.
The Brazilian attacker swapped Merseyside for Catalonia for a nine-figure sum in January 2018, but his two-and-a-half year stint at Camp Nou has been underwhelming.
Coutinho was handed a new lease of life at the start of the 2020-21 season under Ronald Koeman, but a serious knee injury ruled him out for the second half of the season, and Barca are thought to be open to offers.
According to AS, Barca still owe Liverpool £50m from Coutinho's move to Camp Nou, and the club are therefore exploring the possibility of letting the South American re-sign for the Reds for free in order to write off the debt.
The report claims that Coutinho is still admired by those in the Liverpool dressing room, but his recent injury woes could lead Anfield chiefs to think twice about taking him back.
With the 28-year-old still rehabilitating from his knee injury, interested parties will reportedly have to wait until July before making their move. body check tags ::
