German champions Bayern Munich reportedly no longer hold an interest in signing Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino.

The Brazil international has now entered the final six months of his Anfield contract and will be free to leave in the summer as things stand.

Firmino is able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season, and he will not be short of suitors despite his injury woes.

Bayern, who poached Sadio Mane from Anfield in the most recent summer window, have been tipped to move for Firmino should the former Hoffenheim man opt to further his career elsewhere.

However, according to journalist Christian Falk - via Bayern & Germany - Firmino is not on the Bavarians' shortlist at present as they prioritise a move for RB Leipzig's Konrad Laimer.

Furthermore, a contract extension for French defender Lucas Hernandez and addressing the goalkeeping situation are also higher up on Bayern's agenda than signing a new forward.

Firmino has faced added competition for the striker's spot from Darwin Nunez in the 2022-23 season, but he has come up with a respectable nine goals and four assists in 21 games this season.

However, the 31-year-old is currently sidelined with a calf issue and had trouble staying fit in the 2021-22 campaign, missing a total of 26 games through injury or illness.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are believed to be working on a short-term extension for the South American, who has also attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

A recent report claimed that Firmino was leaning towards extending his stay at Liverpool despite interest from Saudi clubs, although competition for attacking spots is now rife following the arrival of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.

Firmino has also had to compete with Diogo Jota - who is currently sidelined with a serious calf injury - for the number nine position, and Jurgen Klopp was recently questioned on his future.

The Liverpool boss denied that Gakpo's signing would have any impact on Firmino's future at the club, saying: "No. No. Not from me, absolutely not. We have talks with Bobby and I can say, from my point of view, I want him, definitely, to stay.

"There is no impact, if you mean with an impact that Bobby might [be moved on]. You have to ask Bobby about that, but from my point of view, no."

Firmino has registered 107 goals and 78 assists in 348 games for Liverpool since joining from Hoffenheim in 2015, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup and Community Shield in that time.

The attacker could recover from his calf issue in time to play against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, although he was not pictured in training with the team on Thursday.
