Cardiff City have moved into pole position in the race to sign Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy, according to reports.
The Bluebirds have been monitering Bellamy throughout the summer, and reportedly entered into talks with Liverpool last week.
Liverpool are thought to be reluctant to let Bellamy leave after an impressive Olympic Games, but the lure of a return to his hometown club could prove too strong for the Welsh striker.
Bellamy spent a season on loan at Cardiff before joining Liverpool on a free transfer at the start of last season.
The 33-year-old has also attracted interest from Queens Park Rangers, but is thought to favour a move back to Wales.
