Jamie Carragher has claimed that Liverpool's Mohamed Salah will stay at the club because the forward has missed his chance for a move to Spain.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield after suggesting in an interview with AS that he was open to joining either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
However, Liverpool legend Carragher has said that the two La Liga giants would prefer to spend big money on either Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe or Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland instead of Salah, and has also likened the Egyptian's situation to that of Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane.
"I think he'll be there (at Liverpool) for the next few years. I think he's in a similar position to Harry Kane. They're possibly the two best goal scorers in the Premier League right now. They're at an age where no-one is going to pay big money for them," Carragher said on The Robbie Fowler Podcast.
"I think they've probably missed the boat if they ever did want to go; whether that is to a Real Madrid or a Barcelona. Whether it's Harry Kane going to Manchester United or Manchester City. For both of those players, I think you're talking £120m plus, maybe more, and I just don't think anyone will spend that much on players of that age now.
"I think they'd look more at paying £200m for Mbappe because of the longevity. It's maybe the same for Haaland as well, they'd get so much more out of those two."
Salah is currently the Premier League's top goalscorer, having found the net 17 times in 28 league appearances so far this campaign. body check tags ::
