Stan Collymore urges Liverpool to recall Divock Origi

Stan Collymore says that Divock Origi, who is on loan at Lillle, possesses the "pace, dynamism and aggression" that Liverpool are currently lacking in attack.

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes that Divock Origi is the player to enhance the club's chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Belgium international Origi agreed a permanent switch to Liverpool from Lille during the summer, but, under the terms of the deal, it was decided that he would spend the ongoing campaign on loan with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Meanwhile, with Luis Suarez having departed for Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge sidelined since late August with thigh and calf injuries, Liverpool found goals hard to come by and have scored just once in their last three outings.

Heading into this afternoon's clash away at Crystal Palace, Mario Balotelli is yet to find the net in the Premier League for the club, while Rickie Lambert is also awaiting his first goal in Liverpool colours following his move from Southampton.

With that in mind, Collymore has called on the club to cut short Origi's stint with Lille, even it costs them "£10m".

"Liverpool want to send an SOS to Divock Origi and I am convinced he really could be the man to save their season. The goals are drying up for the Reds and the situation needs to be rectified in time for the second half of the campaign," he wrote in The Mirror.

"This lad really could make the difference and I reckon they should move heaven and earth to land him in January. I watched Origi for Belgium against Australia recently and he has pace, dynamism and aggression - three things Liverpool are crying out for.

"They desperately need to call on this 19-year-old striker and if the price to sign him this winter from Lille is £5m, or even £10m, it will be worth every penny."

Origi has scored four goals in all competitions for Lille this term.
