Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah would supposedly accept a new short-term Reds deal but is becoming incredibly miffed at the club's hierarchy for their lack of movement in talks.

The 32-year-old being out of contract at the end of the season has sometimes overshadowed his excellence on the field, but he has been largely blocking out the outside noise to shine under Arne Slot.

Salah came up with another goal and assist in Sunday's 2-0 win over Manchester City, which took Liverpool 11 points clear of the reigning champions at the top of the table and saw them maintain their nine-point lead over Arsenal and Chelsea.

The former Blues attacker now has a tremendous 24 direct goal contributions in just 20 games this season - 13 of his own and 11 assists - and he equalled a Premier League record set by Wayne Rooney with his man-of-the-match performance at the weekend.

However, Salah touched on his contract situation once again at full time, admitting that he was playing Sunday's game as if it would be the last time he faced Man City after claiming two weekends ago that he was "more out than in" of the club.

Salah revealed at Southampton that he was yet to receive a single offer of a new contract from the Liverpool board, and if nothing changes in the next few weeks, he can enter pre-contract talks with foreign teams in January.

According to The Athletic, Salah is becoming 'increasingly exasperated' at how Liverpool are handling his contract situation, as the club have not informed him how long any new potential deal would be, as well as how much he would earn.

High-calibre European clubs are thought to be casting a watchful eye over developments, although Salah would apparently give the green light to a new one-year agreement if it were offered to him.

Liverpool supposedly believe that conversations with Salah's representative Ramy Abbas Issa are heading in the right direction, but the player himself is not convinced that the Reds will give him what he wants.

Salah is by far and away Liverpool's highest earner on a £350,000-a-week deal, according to Capology, and he expects his next pay packet to reflect both his terrific displays this season and his belief that he is among the best players on the planet.

Salah 'not agitating' to leave Liverpool amid Ballon d'Or desire

Despite the attacker's grievances with the powers-that-be, he is supposedly 'not agitating' to secure an exit from the club, and his number one priority is to shake hands on a new contract with Liverpool.

Salah also has ambitions of winning the Ballon d'Or and expects to continue performing in the same vein or better over the next couple of seasons, even though he will celebrate his 33rd birthday next summer.

Paris Saint-Germain - who have long been linked with a move for Salah as a Kylian Mbappe replacement - have allegedly denied making contact over a move for the Egyptian, who remains hot on the Saudi Pro League's radar.

Al-Ittihad failed with a £150m offer for Salah in the final knockings of the summer 2023 window and were briefly tipped to make a world-record £200m offer, but such an approach never came to fruition.

Since leaving Roma in the summer of 2017, Salah has amassed 224 goals and 100 assists from 369 matches for Liverpool and is the fifth-highest scorer in Reds history below Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), Gordon Hodgson (241) and Billy Liddell (228). body check tags ::
