Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly set to return to the Premier League this summer.

The Netherlands international penned a three-year deal at the Parc des Princes upon his arrival from Liverpool in 2021 but has struggled to make a consistent impact under Mauricio Pochettino.

Wijnaldum has registered three goals and two assists in 29 appearances for PSG across all competitions, but the 31-year-old has failed to nail down a regular spot in the first XI.

According to L'Equipe, both Wijnaldum and PSG have accepted that the transfer was a mistake, and the midfielder will be one of several PSG players shipped out in a mass summer exodus.

The report adds that a return to the English top flight is the most likely option for Wijnaldum, but Liverpool are not expected to try to re-sign their former lynchpin.

Wijnaldum previously registered 27 goals and 16 assists in 217 Premier League appearances during his stints with the Reds and Newcastle United. body check tags ::
