Steven Gerrard has confirmed that he will not be returning to Liverpool on loan during his stay at MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy.
The 35-year-old, who joined the American club in July after ending a 17-year career at Anfield, is back on Merseyside for the off-season until January.
English footballers playing in the MLS, including ex-professional David Beckham, have been loaned to European clubs in the past, but Gerrard has no plans to do that.
In an interview with Eurosport, Gerrard said: "I've retired from the national team so I don't have to go and prove myself in Europe.
"I need to get some rest because I've got a very long season ahead next year, so it's very important I come back strong, rested and ready to go again."
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has invited Gerrard to train at Melwood during his time off, but has no intention of offering the club's former captain a loan deal.
