Jurgen Klopp hints at late Liverpool additions

Jurgen Klopp hints that Liverpool could make further additions to their squad before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that the club could still make further signings before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have taken just two points from their opening three league games, and with a number of midfielders injured there have been calls for Liverpool to strengthen their squad.

When questioned about possible additions, Klopp indicated that the club could still sign players in the final week of the transfer window.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday's home league meeting with Bournemouth, Klopp said: "You can imagine, we are actually working constantly on these kind of things but there are reasons why sometimes they don't happen."

"Sometimes it is too expensive, sometimes it's not the right player. Then, the situation changes, but one thing that stays really important is that it needs to be the right player.

"We are working but we will see. If something will happen or not, I don't know. It must be the right player."

"Some players are just unavailable, that's how it is, but if we can do something, and if we will do something, then we are 100 per cent convinced about it. If we are not convinced, then we will not do it. That's the situation.

"If it's the right player, we need him. If it's not the right player, we don't need him. I'm the one who said we don't need a midfielder, and now we need a midfielder.

"You were all right and I was wrong. That is the situation. But that specific point doesn't change it. If we do something, then it has to be the right one.

While Liverpool have been struggling with injuries, Klopp has stated that Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Joel Matip are nearing returns.

"Again, Curtis comes back. Thiago not too far off. Diogo (Jota) not too far off. Joel (Matip) comes back. That eases the situation slightly.

"It would be great if nobody gets on the list, on the other side, and it's an intense time coming up. We know that.

"But we will not change the way we deal with the situation. There's nothing really for me to say to you at this moment."

After losing 2-1 to Manchester United on Monday, Liverpool will attempt to clinch their first league win of the season when they play host to Bournemouth on Saturday. body check tags ::
