Jurgen Klopp has reportedly been in contact with Kylian Mbappe's father in a bid to lure to Paris Saint-Germain striker to Liverpool.
Mbappe remains one of the most sought-after players in world football after scoring 116 goals in 164 games for Monaco and PSG, while also helping France to World Cup success in 2018.
Real Madrid hold a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old, but Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested.
French outlet Le 10 Sport suggests that the Reds have taken the first step to signing Mbappe by getting Klopp to reach out to the player's father.
Klopp is said to have discussed whether the young Frenchman would be open to moving to Anfield at the end of the season, at which point he will have two years to run on his contract.
Even if Liverpool do persuade Mbappe to join them, though, it is claimed that they must still hand over in excess of £200m to PSG.
