Jurgen Klopp is plotting a move to bring Mario Gotze to Liverpool in the summer, according to German publication Bild.
The manager has a good relationship with the 23-year-old from their time together at Borussia Dortmund, while Gotze's new club Bayern Munich would reportedly be open to offers around the €50m (£37.2m) mark.
Such a move would represent a club-record fee for Liverpool, who previously paid a top figure of £35m for Andy Carroll in 2011.
Gotze, who is contracted at the Allianz Arena until the end of next season, is currently on a four-month injury layoff after pulling his hamstring. As a result he has been restricted to just seven league appearances all season, scoring once and making three assists.
