Manager Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged that Liverpool will likely sign goalkeeper Andy Lonergan as cover for Alisson Becker.
The established number one suffered a calf injury during the club's Premier League opener with Norwich City on Friday night, leaving Adrian as the only fit stopper.
While Klopp has provided a positive injury update regarding youngster Caoimhin Kelleher, the German has admitted that he is looking to bring in veteran Lonergan, who spent time with Liverpool during pre-season.
Klopp told the club's official website: "The situation was even more difficult a few weeks ago because of injuries, but Caoimhin Kelleher is now in his final steps for being completely back.
"He's training only [for] five days or so, catching balls and all that stuff, it looks all good but of course we have to find a solution in the short term and that will be, if nothing happens from now to then, Andy Lonergan.
"He was in with us, he's a brilliant character, a really nice lad and helped us a lot in the pre-season and now we decided to work together with him."
Klopp feels that Alisson will be sidelined for "a few weeks", leaving him out of action until after the international break.
