Kenny Dalglish is reportedly eyeing Vilarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla for a move to Anfield.
Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli are said to be considering an £18m approach for the 26-year-old, although his contract holds a £28m release clause.
The proposition follows a recommendation from Cazorla’s international teammate goalkeeper Pepe Reina, according to People.
Cazorla would be bound for the left wing, a position for which Aston Villa’s Stewart Downing is also being considered.
Dalglish made his first signing as permanent manager last week, acquiring Jordan Henderson from Sunderland.
