Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a potential move for experienced defender Daryl Janmaat.
Joe Gomez could miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season with a serious knee injury, while Virgil van Dijk is also facing a battle to return from his own knee problem before the end of the campaign.
The Reds are expected to enter the January transfer market to sign a new centre-back, with Real Madrid's Eder Militao the latest player to be linked with a move to Anfield.
However, according to TEAMtalk, the Premier League champions are also considering moving for Janmaat, who has been personally recommended by Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The 31-year-old is currently available on a free transfer, having left Watford at the start of October following their relegation to the second tier of English football.
Janmaat made 77 appearances for Newcastle United between 2014 and 2017 before joining Watford, representing the Hornets on 85 occasions ahead of his departure last month.
The versatile defender is also a 34-time Netherlands international and helped his national team claim third at the 2014 World Cup.
