Liverpool are allegedly looking for alternatives to Xherdan Shaqiri after cooling their interest in the Stoke City midfielder.
Over the last two weeks, the Reds are said to have been tracking the Swiss international, with the latest report suggesting that Liverpool were prepared to wait until after the World Cup to sign Shaqiri.
According to Sky Sports News, however, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now stepped back from a potential £12m deal and wants to search for other targets before the transfer window shuts.
Liverpool also pulled out of a deal to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir after agreeing a contract with the Frenchman, meaning that Fabinho is the only new recruit for Klopp's side so far this summer.
The Merseyside club begin their Premier League campaign against West Ham United at Anfield.
