Liverpool have announced that striker Luis Suarez is "not for sale", despite the Uruguayan revealing his intentions to leave the Merseyside club.
The 26-year-old revealed in a press conference in South America that his main reason for wanting to leave the Reds is the treatment he has received from the English press.
While the former Ajax forward has stated that the club are aware of his intentions, a spokesman has insisted that Suarez has not expressed his desire to leave to the Premier League outfit.
"Luis Suarez is not for sale - neither Luis or his representatives have communicated these feelings directly to Liverpool Football Club," said the spokesman.
"The club remains supportive of Luis and expect him to honour his contract. The club will not be making any further comment at this stage."
Suarez also revealed that he has yet to receive any offers, but Spanish giants Real Madrid are said to be keen on the striker's services.
