Liverpool are considering a move for Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini, according to The Mirror.
The 29-year-old Argentine has played a key part in the Magpies' rise to fourth place in the Premier League table this season.
Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has been to see the player twice in recent matches.
It is thought that Reds boss Kenny Dalglish would have to offer big money to prize the centre back away from the North East during the January transfer window.
Coloccini moved to Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 for around £6m.
