Liverpool 'join chase for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet'

Liverpool reportedly earmark Seville's Clement Lenglet as the ideal partner for defender Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have reportedly made Sevilla's Clement Lenglet their top defensive target for this summer.

According to Diario AS, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp views the Frenchman as the ideal long-term partner for fellow centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool, however, could face steep competition for Lenglet's services, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also said to be on the hunt for the centre-back.

The 22-year-old reportedly has a release clause in his contract which can be triggered with a bid of around £40m.

Lenglet, who joined Sevilla from Nancy last year, has caps for France at various youth levels up to Under-21.
