Liverpool and Juventus are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

The 23-year-old has less than two years left to run on his existing deal at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are working to tie him down to an extension.

Mount has remained an integral part of the Blues' setup under Graham Potter this term, scoring two goals and setting up six more in 21 games across all tournaments.

The England international now has 32 strikes and 37 assists to boast from 181 matches for the Blues, having initially joined their youth academy back in 2005.

Mount is currently away with the Three Lions for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and contract talks have been put on ice while he focuses on the international tournament.

However, The Guardian claims that there is "growing uncertainty" over Mount's future, and both Liverpool and Juventus are monitoring developments.

The report adds that Mount and Chelsea have been trying to thrash out an agreement over a new deal since the summer, but there has been no breakthrough a few months later.

As a result, the Blues could come under pressure to sell if it becomes clear that the Englishman will not sign a new deal, but the owners are still optimistic of him putting pen to paper.

Todd Boehly supposedly believes that Mount has the makings of a future Chelsea captain, and the midfielder can expect a bumper pay rise to reflect his increasing importance to the side.

Chelsea's offers of a new deal are reported to have left Mount dissatisfied so far, though, and the former Derby County loanee - who is one of the lowest-paid players at the club - is not 100% guaranteed to sign fresh terms.

Nevertheless, Mount affirmed earlier this year that he was hopeful of staying on at Chelsea, with the 23-year-old foreseeing a "really exciting" future under Boehly.

Mount will hope to start for England when they face Iran in Monday's World Cup opener, and he is not the only midfielder whom Chelsea are at risk of losing in the near future.

Jorginho and N'Golo Kante are both set to become free agents at the end of the season, and talks with Kante are also believed to have stalled over the length of a new deal, with the Frenchman after a solid three years while Chelsea are only winning to offer two with the option of a third.

In contrast, Jorginho's agent has affirmed that the Italian's priority is to agree a new contract with the Blues, but he has been linked with Barcelona amid the ongoing uncertainty.

Further back, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is now reported to be considering his future at the club, having lost the number one spot to Kepa Arrizabalaga since Potter's arrival.
