Liverpool have opened talks with captain Steven Gerrard over a new contract, according to The Telegraph.
The 31-year-old has 18 months remaining on his current deal.
It is reported that the extension will keep the midfielder at the club until he is 35.
Gerrard is currently sidelined with an ankle infection having recently returned from a groin problem which kept him out for six months.
