Liverpool transfer news: Arne Slot 'open' to selling highly-rated teenager

Liverpool are reportedly open to cashing in on one of the top prospects before the end of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool will reportedly give consideration to offers for one of their most highly-regarded prospects over the coming weeks.

Arne Slot is still waiting to make the first senior addition of his reign having replaced Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.

However, there have been several high-profile departures, with Fabio Carvalho leaving for Brentford in a £27.5m deal as recently as Monday.

A report around the same time suggested that Bobby Clark is another starlet who could be allowed to move onto pastures new, further bolstering the Anfield coffers.

Slot realistically already has funds to spend, as indicated by the club's recent interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, yet it appears there is a willingness to do further business with their young players.

Liverpool open to Doak offers

According to The Athletic, club officials would not necessarily turn down offers for Ben Doak.

Of all the academy players at the Merseyside giants, the 18-year-old arguably holds the biggest reputation having been tipped for regular first-team football in 2023-24.

Instead, a serious knee injury prevented him from building on his progress under Klopp, with just five outings being made during the first half of that campaign.

Doak notably accumulated 169 minutes of football across three Europa League fixtures, while the Scotland Under-21 international has a total of 10 senior appearances to his name.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are seemingly ready to do business if an opportunity arises to make more significant headway in the eyes of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Who could move for Doak?

Leicester City are said to have been monitoring the situation with Doak, a player who was in contention to represent Scotland at Euro 2024 before it was deemed he was not fit enough for selection.

New Foxes head coach Steve Cooper would plausibly hand him regular minutes in the Premier League at a time when he is not blessed with a wide array of wingers at the King Power Stadium.

The report adds that it remains unclear whether a permanent or temporary offer could materialise, particularly in Leicester's case when they have had difficulties complying with some financial rulings.

Doak made four appearances during pre-season, including playing 90 minutes against Las Palmas on Sunday, so is now fully fit ahead of the new campaign. body check tags ::
