Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing two players from Serie A during this summer's transfer window.
Following a nine-year spell under the expert tutelage of German head coach Jurgen Klopp, the Reds will be embarking on the start of a new era during the 2024-25 campaign.
Fresh from a successful stint at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, Arne Slot will be the lucky man to take the reins at Anfield, with the mission of knocking Manchester City off their Premier League perch.
After being involved in a three-way tussle at the top of the league during 2023-24, Klopp's side dropped off significantly in April, leaving Pep Guardiola's troops and Arsenal to battle it out for the English crown.
While a host of his first-team stars are away on international duty, Slot will be preparing for the start of Liverpool's pre-season plans in July, when they will play Real Betis, Manchester United and Mikel Arteta's Gunners in the United States.
Liverpool keen on Serie A goalkeeper?
According to Tuttosport, Liverpool have already been very active in this summer's transfer window as they look to bolster their goalkeeping department.
The report claims that the Reds made an attempt to sign Monza shot-stopper Michele Di Gregorio, who has just come off a stellar campaign in Serie A.
It is believed that Slot's side offered in the region of £21m for the 26-year-old, although the swoop for the player was said to have been unsuccessful.
This is largely due to the fact that Di Gregorio had already supposedly agreed to swap Monza for Turin giants Juventus during this summer's off-season.
Despite the reports of Alisson Becker rejecting a big-money offer from Al-Nassr, Liverpool are still scouring the keeper market due to unsure futures of Caoimhin Kelleher and third-choice stopper Adrian at Anfield.
Liverpool 'join race' for Juventus defender
As well as a keeper, it is understood that Liverpool will be attempting to raid Serie A for an addition to the defensive ranks at Anfield.
Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale is reporting that Slot's men are interested in securing the services of Juve youngster Dean Huijsen this summer.
The 19-year-old spent the second half of the 2023-24 term on loan at Roma, where he made 14 league appearances, scoring on two occasions for Daniele De Rossi's troops.
Liverpool are set to face serious competition for the signature of Huijsen, though, with Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund also believed to be keen on the centre-back. body check tags ::
