Liverpool reportedly have no intention of paying £27m for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
With less than a year remaining on his contract, Thiago has told Bayern that he wishes to take on a new challenge this summer.
That has allegedly led to interest from Liverpool, who are keen to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga champions as soon as possible.
However, according to The Guardian, officials from the Merseyside giants have informed their Bayern counterparts that they will not meet their current asking price.
Due to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool are reluctant to make many first-team additions ahead of the new campaign.
While the two parties wish to join forces, much could depend on whether Bayern receive any other offers for the 29-year-old.
