Liverpool are reportedly poised to renew their interest in Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke with an improved offer.
The Reds are said to have seen a £22m bid for the 24-year-old knocked back earlier this month, with Villa reluctant to sell for anything less than his £32.5m buyout clause.
The Belgian, who enjoyed a goal-laden end to the 2014-15 campaign, is thought to be keen on leaving the Villans and will not a sign a new contract when his current one expires in 2017.
Having signed Brazil forward Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for a reported £29m in recent days, Liverpool were thought to have ended their interest in Benteke.
However, manager Brendan Rodgers remains keen and the club's hierarchy have submitted an improved bid in excess of £25m, according to The Mirror.
Benteke joined the West Midlands club from Genk for £7m in 2012.
