Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may reportedly consider making a bid for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Last season's Premier League and Champions League runners-up have already signed the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsey this summer.

That has led to Klopp stating on more than one occasion that he had no intention of bringing any more fresh faces to Anfield for the first half of the season.

However, the German revealed ahead of Saturday's Community Shield fixture with Manchester City that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain faces a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Speaking on the matter, Klopp said: "With Oxlade it will take longer. It's a serious hamstring injury and it will take longer. But it's a hamstring, and we all hate this word, we hate the injury but anyway it happens from time to time and now Ox was the one."

While Klopp has no disclosed a potential return date for the Englishman, he is now one player short for what will be a hectic start to the season.

Youngster Tyler Morton has also been allowed to sign for Blackburn Rovers on loan, further restricting Klopp when it comes to alternatives.

According to Calciomercato, consideration may be given to trying to sign Calhanoglu from Inter over the coming weeks.

The report says that Klopp is a long-term admirer of the Turkey international, who contributed seven goals and 13 assists for Inter in Serie A last season.

Although Inter are likely to be against selling one of their most influential players at this stage of the transfer window, the Italian giants are known to want to boost their financial position.

The 28-year-old is also only tied to San Siro until 2024, something which will not be lost on Liverpool as they contemplate their options.

Juventus' Adrien Rabiot and AC Milan's Ismael Bennacer are said to be alternatives in the mind of Klopp, the pair deemed less irreplaceable at their respective teams.

Liverpool begin the new Premier League campaign with a fixture away at newly-promoted Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
