Liverpool reportedly face missing out on up to £35m in bonus payments from Philippe Coutinho's move to Barcelona.
The Brazilian playmaker struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou following his £142m transfer in January 2018 and has spent this season on loan with Bayern Munich.
Coutinho's future in Catalonia looks bleak, with Chelsea and Arsenal rumoured to be among the sides prepared to offer him a route out of the club.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are paying the price for including a number of performance-related payments as part of the deal that took the the 27-year-old to Barca.
The report indicates that the Reds are unlikely to ever receive a large chunk of the money due to Coutinho's underwhelming spell with the La Liga giants.
Liverpool were apparently due to be paid £18m after Coutinho made 100 outings for Barca, but he is 14 appearances short and is not expected to add to that tally.
