Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering keeping Loris Karius as his first-choice goalkeeper past the end of the season.

At the start of 2018, Klopp declared that he now regards Karius as his number one, with Simon Mignolet being demoted to the substitutes' bench on a regular basis.

The Merseyside giants have been linked with a big-money signing during the summer, with Stoke City's Jack Butland and Roma's Alisson both said to be on Klopp's shortlist.

However, according to The Telegraph, Klopp is unwilling to spend a large sum on improving his options between the sticks, especially if Karius can find some consistency before the end of the campaign.

Despite being regarded as Mignolet's understudy for much of his 19-month spell at Anfield, Karius has still made 32 appearances in all competitions, including seven outings since the start of 2018.
