Liverpool have reportedly won the race to sign highly-rated Newcastle United youngster Bobby Clark.

The 16-year-old - son of ex-Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark - famously made his debut for the Magpies' Under-18s side at the age of 14 in August 2019, coming on for the final eight minutes of a defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

However, Clark's progress at Newcastle is thought to have hit a brick wall, which has alerted top clubs to the teenage protege's availability.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have seen off the competition to strike a deal for Clark, who is set to sign his contract imminently before linking up with the Reds' Under-18 side.

The report adds that Tottenham Hotspur were also scouting the attacking midfielder, but academy coach Paul Bracewell rejected the opportunity to sign him.

Clark earned a call-up to the England Under-16s earlier this year and was an unused substitute in a 3-2 friendly defeat to Wales.
