Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that the club will not be selling Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
The striker, 23, has been linked with both Liverpool and Newcastle United in recent weeks.
However, Aulas is hopeful of Lacazette signing a new contract at the Stade Gerland before the start of the season.
"We are in talks and I don't know if he will prolong for two or three years. Whatever happens, he is not for sale," the Lyon chief told L'Equipe.
"The club's strategy has been to build an education centre that produces high quality players. We will give them the opportunity to have success at Lyon."
Lacazette, who has won two caps for the French national team, scored 23 goals last season.
