Mohamed Salah: 'I am staying at Liverpool next season'

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah confirms that he will not be leaving the club this summer ahead of the expiry of his current contract in 2023.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he will be staying at the club for the 2022-23 season.

The Egypt international is currently due to become a free agent in under 18 months' time, and speculation surrounding his future has been rife over the past year.

Salah has previously refused to rule out a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be interested in his services.

Lengthy discussions over a new deal with Salah are yet to bear fruit, but speaking ahead of Saturday's Champions League final with Real Madrid, the 29-year-old ruled out the possibility of a summer exit.

Salah stopped short of committing himself to a new deal at Liverpool, though, saying: "I don't want to talk about that. I just want to see Hendo with the trophy in his hands and hopefully he will then give it to me!

"I am staying next season for sure. I'm very motivated, motivated through the roof, after what happened last time and Sunday, everyone is motivated for this. We fight for this and everyone is excited."

Salah has already amassed 31 goals and 16 assists in Premier League and Champions League action this term, sharing the top-flight Golden Boot with Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min.

The former Chelsea man left the field in tears after the 2018 Champions League final following a challenge from Sergio Ramos, and he described the injury as the "worst moment" of his career so far.

"I remember when I went off it was the worst moment in my career. I was really down at that time," Salah responded when reflecting on that 3-1 defeat in Kyiv.

"Had a good season and came to CL final and went off. Worst thing to happen for a player. I knew the result from hospital. We couldn't lose that way."

Jurgen Klopp then faced questions from the media following Salah and Jordan Henderson after leading a training session without the injured Thiago Alcantara, who damaged his Achilles against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, the Reds boss had some positive news to share on the 31-year-old, telling the press: "I only met him inside, there's a good chance. It's surprisingly good. The good news overnight was that it was not that bad. He could be able to train tomorrow."

Klopp's opposite number Carlo Ancelotti could win a record-breaking fourth Champions League crown as a manager on Saturday, and the German was full of praise for the revered Blancos coach ahead of the showdown.

"He is one of the most successful managers in the world, but he is also a role model in how he deals with success," Klopp added.

"He is fantastic company, really nice guy. We have a really good relationship. The respect for him from my side could not be bigger. He is very, very, very successful. He won everywhere, everything and will never stop."

Fabinho and Joe Gomez were back in full training for Liverpool on Wednesday, meaning that the departing Divock Origi could be the Reds' only absentee for the final. body check tags ::
