Newcastle United are confident that Demba Ba will stay at the club amid reports claiming that they have agreed to sell him to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan.
The Senegalese striker has a well-publicised release clause in his Magpies contract, believed to be in the region of £7m, with Rubin having allegedly matched the required fee.
Should this be the case, the former Russian champions will be entitled to open talks with Ba over personal terms ahead of a potential switch.
However, Newcastle are confident the 27-year-old will stay put, with Ba previously having rubbished speculation linking him with a move and stated that he is happy on Tyneside.
Ba's release clause expires at the end of the month, with other known admirers Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur apparently readying bids before that time comes.
