Longstaff signs new deal?

Newcastle United teen Matty Longstaff, who scored on his club debut against Manchester United last month, will sign a new deal with the Magpies in the next few weeks, according to The Telegraph. Meanwhile older brother Sean Longstaff - linked with a £25m switch to the Red Devils over the summer - is seeking a significant pay rise in order to pen a new extension but the club are reluctant to agree to improved terms.

De Bruyne video sparks speculation

A video featuring Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp went viral in the aftermath of the Reds' victory over their title rivals on Sunday. In the clip, posted by a Spanish TV station, the Belgian is seen talking to his former Chelsea teammate Mohamed Salah before Klopp arrives and the trio engage in a conversation.

Kompany: 'City don't need new defender'

Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has insisted that his former side do not need to bolster their backline in order to compete with Liverpool this season. The Belgian left the club over the summer and was not replaced, despite the loss of fellow centre-back Aymeric Laporte to a long-term injury.

Speaking after the Reds beat City at the weekend, Kompany told Sky Sports News: "I don't think they need to sign another defender . We always struggle at Anfield. You're fighting 25 years of not winning at Anfield and that's difficult, it's two games in one game - you're playing a great team and you're fighting history.

"Flip it around and the same will happen for Liverpool - they will fight the history of not winning the league for 30 years. That should be to City's advantage I still think. As to the defence, the best way for City to defend in the past has been to attack. They have no reason to change that. As soon as they start reconnecting with the best performances, I'm convinced that we can see a sustainable amount of wins."

Wages to scupper Forster deal?

Fraser Forster's £70,000-a-week wages could hinder his hopes of a permanent move to Celtic at the end of the season, according to The Athletic. The Southampton stopper is currently on a season-long loan at Parkhead but will still have two years remaining on his contract at the end of the current campaign, potentially putting him out of the Hoops' financial reach.

Everton interested in Arteta?

Everton are reportedly interested in a move for Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta should they decide to sack Marco Silva as manager in the coming months. The Toffees have won just four of their first 12 league games this season to leave them 15th in the Premier League, although they have taken seven points from their last nine.

Mexican group confident of Newcastle deal?

Mexican firm Orlegi Sports are confident of completing a deal to buy Newcastle United from Mike Ashley, according to The Athletic. The company own Liga MX side Santos Laguna and have been in talks with controversial owner Ashley over a takeover since the end of last season.

Trippier: 'People shout Rooney at me'

Kieran Trippier has revealed that Diego Costa gave him the nickname 'Rooney' following his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico Madrid over the summer. The 29-year-old told The Guardian: "It's just because I'm the only English player here and Rooney's the only one he's heard of; it could have been anything. He just calls me that because it's the first name that came into his mind. And everywhere I go, they shout Rooney. When I warm up, everyone's shouting it. Everyone. I have Diego to thank for this. Of all the names."

Rangers to move for Ferguson?

Rangers are lining up a move for young Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun. The 20-year-old, who is under contract until 2024, has emerged as a key player for the Dons over the last two seasons and is being eyed by Steven Gerrard's side as a potential replacement should Glen Kamara leave.
