Liverpool are said to have been boosted in their pursuit of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with his club prepared to sign a replacement in the summer.

The Reds are on the verge of winning the Premier League title, and their status as Champions will be confirmed should they earn at least a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Despite the side's expected title triumph, there is undoubtedly room for improvement for boss Arne Slot, who has so far only signed one player during his time in England.

Left-back Robertson has often had his place in the XI questioned, and with backup Kostas Tsimikas expected to leave, the Merseysiders are almost certain to be in the market for a new defender on the left side of defence.

The Mirror claims that reported target Kerkez may become available in the summer given Bournemouth are said to be stepping up their pursuit of a new left-back.

Is Milos Kerkez the answer to Liverpool's problems?

Kerkez is arguably the ideal successor to Robertson given the Hungarian shares many of the traits that made the Liverpool left-back such an asset.

The Cherries defender is able to repeatedly make high-intensity runs up and down the left flank, and his ability to deliver crosses into the penalty area has seen him rack up five assists in the league this season.

However, with the expected departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season, Liverpool will need to invest in players capable of conducting the side's early buildup phases.

While Kerkez is by no means a poor passer, he is not a specialist orchestrator in deep areas of the pitch, and he may struggle if asked to take on more responsibility.

It should also be noted that Alexander-Arnold's likely replacement Conor Bradley shares similarities with Kerkez, and having similar players on the left and right flank could make the Reds' attack predictable.

Perhaps Slot could look to sign some such as Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is far more comfortable on the ball than his Bournemouth counterpart. body check tags ::
