Incoming Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly decided to listen to offers for midfielder Mario Gotze.
The German World Cup winner has been linked to Liverpool, as well as his former club Borussia Dortmund.
Jurgen Klopp, who took over at Anfield in October, is believed to be keen to seal a £20m transfer for Gotze, who spent four years playing under the German coach at Dortmund before signing for Bayern in 2013.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti is willing to sell the 23-year-old, who has struggled to hold down a first-team place with the Bundesliga giants this season.
The report adds that Liverpool are in close contact with Gotze's representatives and hope that a deal can be struck given that the midfielder has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
Ancelotti will take over from Pep Guardiola this summer when the Spaniard leaves the Allianz Arena to become Manchester City's new manager.
