Newcastle United reportedly have no intention of taking Andy Carroll back to Tyneside this summer.
The 24-year-old left St James' Park for Liverpool in January 2011 in a deal worth £35m to the Magpies.
However, the move failed to work out for the England international and he spent the majority of last season on loan with West Ham United, who are thought to have had a £15m bid accepted for his services on a permanent basis by the Reds.
It had been claimed that Newcastle may look to trump their Premier League rivals by lodging an offer of their own, but there is no truth in those rumours, according to Sky Sports News.
French side Monaco have also been linked with a move for the centre-forward following their recent promotion to Ligue 1.
