Glen Johnson has reportedly moved a step closer to joining Besiktas on a free transfer.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that the full-back will be released by Liverpool after spending six years at Anfield.
Johnson has been repeatedly linked with a move to Besiktas since falling out of favour under Brendan Rodgers, and the Liverpool Echo claims that he has held talks with the Turkish side.
Roma have previously been rumoured to hold an interest in the England international, but he is likely to sign a two-year deal with Besiktas.
Johnson leaves Liverpool having made 200 appearances for the club.
