Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Sampdoria over a move to bring goalkeeper Sergio Romero to the club.
The 27-year-old enjoyed an impressive World Cup with Argentina earlier this summer, and is said to be the ideal choice to offer competition for Simon Mignolet between the sticks.
Sky Sport Italia claims that the Reds made an approach to the Italian club last night over a potential deal for the keeper.
The same report states that Sampdoria would prefer to sell Romero for around £2m, but could loan him if Liverpool prefer.
Pepe Reina completed his switch from Liverpool to Bayern Munich earlier this week.
