Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that the club will not be rushed into replacing Luis Suarez after Loic Remy's proposed move to Anfield fell through.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the club will not be rushed into buying a replacement for Luis Suarez after Loic Remy's proposed move to Anfield fell through.

The Frenchman had flown out to the United States to undergo a medical, but the Reds decided to pull out of the deal.

Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert are now Rodgers's only senior strikers, but the Liverpool boss has said that he will only bring in the right calibre of player to replace Suarez.

"There are certain areas where I want to bring in players, but they have to be the right type. There is money to spend but I won't spend it for the sake of it," Goal.com quotes him as saying.

"If that means I have to wait until January then that's what I will do. The players at the moment are in great condition, they are working very well and very hard.

"I have seen the development in some of the young players but if the right ones become available we would like to do something because I still have a lot to do on that front – but if they're not available, I will wait."

Suarez, who scored 31 league goals for the Reds last season, joined Barcelona earlier this month for a fee in the region of £75m.
