Brendan Rodgers reveals January transfer funds

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers reveals that he has money to spend during the January transfer window.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he will have money to spend on players during the January transfer window.

The club's hierarchy were criticised over the summer for loaning out £35m striker Andy Carroll to West Ham United on deadline day and failing to bring in a replacement.

Rodgers is also aware that his squad is looking bare in other departments and has vowed to bring in new recruits.

"We'll have funds," Rodgers told the Reds' official website. "I'm in talks with the owners at the moment along with our recruitment team. We know we need to reinforce the group, so that's something that is ongoing.

"The priority is to get players into the building. Our squad is very small, very thin on the ground, and the players have performed admirably up until now.

"At this moment in time, it really is about reinforcing the group rather than looking too much at people going the other way."

The Merseysiders welcome Newcastle United to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.
