Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has suggested that the Bluebirds have missed out on the signing of Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic.
Liverpool allowed Grujic to spend the second half of last season on loan in South Wales, and Cardiff had been keen on securing a similar deal ahead of their return to the Premier League.
However, Warnock has indicated that Liverpool have decided to keep the Serbian at Anfield for the first half of the campaign.
Warnock is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Grujic looks like he will stay put. I think he would be better off here but it is a contract issue, I understand his point of view.
"Liverpool have four competitions before Christmas and he can play in those without being named in the 25-man squad."
Grujic made 14 appearances for Cardiff last season, while just 14 outings have come in his two-and-a-half years with the Merseyside giants.
